The following story comes from the 1 August “Dothan Eagle,” a small town Alabama newspaper. It’s buried on last page of the news section:
LEVEL PLAINS MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE OF 4-YEAR OLD GIRL (Staff reporter) A 32-year old Level Plains man is on federal hold at the Dale County Jail after being charged with raping a 4-year old girl, according to the Dale county Sheriff’s Office.
Dale County Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Harvey Mathis said sheriff’s investigators arrested Marcs Velazquez Morales on Wednesday on Private Road 1428 after allegations were reported to the Coffee County Department of Human Resources.
Morales was charged with rape and sexual abuse.
Mathis said Morales is an illegal alien who was departed from Kansas in 2003.
Mathis said Morales in on hold at the Dale County Jail for federal authorities, although a $90,000 cash bond was set.
In my blog, The Third Betrayal, I discuss the ongoing lie-by-omission local media perpetrates about illegal aliens. These aliens are dramatically altering our nation’s small town social fabric and little of it is being reported. This story is a prime example of this phenomenon.
Why does this important story rate mention on the very last page of local, state and national news? What’s on page 1? The city is getting it’s first bike path. What’s on page 5? A job fair announcement. On page 9? A nice story about a dominoes tournament at a local senior citizens home. A baby getting raped by someone who shouldn’t even be here gets a tiny blurb on page 10.
Second, the headline is intentionally misleading. Morales is not a “Level Plains man.” He isn’t a legal resident of the tiny town of Level Plains, let alone Alabama or the United States. A more accurate headline would be PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED WITH RAPE OF 4-YEAR OLD.
Third, if he is on federal hold how does he rate bond? Can there be any better candidate for flight risk? What is going on here?
